Dick’s Sporting Goods and Red Bull New York teamed up to help some disadvantaged youth during the 2008 Back to School season. Athletes for Charity was called upon by the Red Bulls to align all of the youth to participate in a very unique event. On Wednesday, September 10th, 2008, a special shopping event took place at a Dick’s Sporting Goods store in New Jersey. Approximately 50 underprivileged youth were afforded MVP status through a special “personal shopper” experience with players from the Red Bull’s. Each of the participating youth were given a complimentary Dick’s Sporting Goods gift card (value $100) and then accompanied through the store by the players helped them pick out merchandise to purchase with that gift card. The youth also received Red Bull logo soccer balls that were autographed by all 15 players in attendance.
The event provided the youth with a very unique experience of meeting and greeting with the Red Bulls players and an opportunity for the players to encourage the youth about the upcoming school year. Athletes for Charity participates in the Red Bull New York’s Kicks for Kids program providing hundreds of youth with an exciting and memorable experience at a Major League Soccer game.
